Samantha Fields is exploring potentially catastrophic moments through a lens of wonder and appreciation for the power of nature. Fields’ paintings are rendered using hundreds of thinly applied airbrushed layers of paint - the resulting surfaces are luminous and velvety. There is an elegance and a calm to the surface that belies the chaotic nature of the subject matter.
